If dogs and squirrels ever learn how to drive, I will never cross the street
again; there's going to be some serious retribution.
Yesterday, I saved
a dog's life. He was this old Dalmation and he was running around in a busy
intersection. I ran out into the street and tried to grab him while I was
telling him to get out of the street. It went a lil' something like this:
Me (running into the street): Get out of the street dog.
Dog
(looking at me like I am an idoit talking to a dog): Ruff, ruff.
Me:
Ruff, ruff indeed dog. You might die
Dog (running out of the street):
Bark, bark.
I think "Bark, bark" was his way of saying thank you for
reminding him about about him not being a cat and not having 9 lives. He had
this smirk on his face though, kind of saying that he is always going to be 7
times older than me. I thought you were supposed to get wiser with age.
Dumb, old dog.
Anyway, he ran onto the sidewalk out of harms
way. He ran away from me. I just tried to save this dog's life and he runs
away??? There is a life lesson in this somewhere. If you have someone that you
care about and you try to save them, don't feel bad if they run away from you.
Especially if they try to get you ran over by a car.
As much as I want
to say that I saved that dog's life, he taught me a lesson and for that I am
happy that I have a cat. She never tries to teach me anything. She just lives
her life and I live mine. She knows that I live in an apartment and if I still
lived in a house I would have a big, mean dog that would chase her around and
torment her. She respects that. She doesn't need to go outside to poop. She
doesn't run out in the middle of the street. If only I could enter her in some
cat contest so she could pay her overdue rent.
Freeloader.
All kidding aside, I believe Bob Barker said it best when he said,
"Have your pets spayed and make them pay for 1/2 of the electric bill."
Ok, all kidding wasn't aside. I lied. I am serious now. If you have a
pet; take care of it. Don't let it run around in the street and almost die. I
may be a superhero, but I might not always be there.
