So I just received this e-mail from the human resource office stating that it is autism awareness month.  Since some people do not know what autism is they provided this definition, "Autism is a lifelong brain disorder. It is commonly referred to as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which means that its symptoms can range from mild to severe.  ASD may impair a person's ability to communicate and relate to others.  They may have difficulty understanding and responding to social rules."

So to put this into perspective some one with autism may not understand society and its norms.  They might not understand the fact that it is the 10th day of the month and they just finally sent out a reminder that it's autism awareness month almost half way through the month.  Either our human resource office is filled with autistic people or they hate autistic people to a degree where they won't just completely ignore the disorder but just don't want it to get too much recognition where people are locking their doors at night because people with Autism from Alabama might break into their house and ignore social rules.  God knows people from Alabama already have difficulty relating to others and following social rules...such as not humping your sister, we don't need people with autism from Alabama running loose in the streets.  NO sisters would be safe. 

Well after I got past this point and started reading some of the stats on this disorder I came upon these two facts.

·  Between one and six out of a 1,000 people have autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined.

·  Autism affects one in every 166 children born in the United States .
